High school is a time for students to make new friends and build relationships. Participating in team building activities can help students to bond with their classmates and improve their social skills. In this article, we will explore some fun activities that high school students can participate in for team building or socializing.

At EscapeTrails we know as former teachers that at the start of the school year in many schools you want to start with a big bang, with an orientation that makes students feel welcome, connect with their peers and something that helps set the tone for the rest of the year.  Sometimes schools dedicate a whole week for these activities, some even take the whole grade level away to a camp or activity center.

The end of the year is also a popular time for grade levels to do some activities together.  This may be a trip into the city, visit a museum or two and explore.  A way of combining curriculum objectives with having a little fun and treat.

We believe we have a pretty awesome option with an EscapeTrails adventure.  Whether it is 12 students or 200 (or more – are largest has been over 800 in a High School!) an EscapeTrails adventure is fun, active and social.  The best thing is that they are super flexible we can set up an adventure to be played on the school campus, in the city or the local state park!  You can choose an adventure already created, customize one or we can create a special one just for you!

An EscapeTrails is part scavenger hunt, part amazing race and part escape room and depending on location part city tour!

However, as promised here are some potential alternatives that may be an option depending on group size.

1. Escape Room

Escape Game

Escape rooms are a great way for high school students to work together to solve puzzles and challenges. They can choose a theme that suits their interests, such as a mystery or adventure. This activity will help them to develop communication and problem-solving skills.  EscapeTrails can set up an Escape game outdoors which could be a great option and saves the logistics of getting everyone to the Escape Room location.  Also if you have a large group your local Escape Room may struggle to accommodate everyone!  So if you think the students will enjoy saving the world, solving a mystery or finding the treasure then check out our adventures.

2. Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger HuntScavenger hunts are a classic activity that can be adapted to suit any group size or location. Students can work together in teams to search for clues and complete challenges. This activity will help them to develop their teamwork and leadership skills.  We agree that Scavenger Hunts are a great option and are always super fun whatever your age.  At EscapeTrails we have the Classic that is our version of a traditional Scavenger hunt but with a twist.

3. Karaoke Night

KarokeKaraoke nights are a fun way for students to let loose and have some fun. They can sing their favorite songs and dance together. This activity will help them to develop their confidence and social skills.  Always a fun experience once the party gets started!

4. Sports Day

Sports dayOrganizing a sports day is a great way for students to get active and work together. They can participate in various games and activities, such as relay races, tug-of-war, and dodgeball. This activity will help them to develop their teamwork and competitive skills.  We have experienced some awesome events that have all kinds of activities in, from a slip and slide to a bouncy castle.  At EscapeTrails we have our own version of Sports Day which is a little easier to organize and revolves around a sport challenge scavenger hunt.

5. Movie Night

Movie NightHosting a movie night is a simple but effective way for students to relax and socialize. They can watch a movie together and share snacks. This activity will help them to develop their communication and social skills.  A popular activity and a great shared experience!

Participating in team building and social activities can help high school students to develop important skills that will benefit them develop bonds and shared memories! These activities can be fun and engaging, encouraging students to build strong relationships with their classmates.
